Dynamic Modeling and Sensitivity Analysis for an MEA-Based CO2 Capture Absorber

The absorber is the key unit in post-combustion monoethanolamine (MEA)-based carbon dioxide (CO2) capture process. A rate-based dynamic model for developed and validated using steady-state experimental data reported open literature. Sensitivity analysis performed with respect to important parameters associated reaction, mass transport physical property relationships. Then, a singular value decomposition (SVD)-based subspace parameter estimation method proposed improve accuracy. Finally, simulations are carried out investigate effects of feed rate lean MEA solution flue inlet conditions. Simulation results indicate that established can reasonably reflect behavior absorber. Some new insights gained from simulation results.
